Roscommon. It is well done and may add to you understanding of the histroy. Now, if they had an e-mail address the world would be better!

Maureen, When you visit the Strokestown Famine Museum ask if there's a guided tour available. We were lucky last year when we were told "no". A tour group came in and we joined their escorted tour, done by a museum employee. It was much better than walking around reading the exhibits. It comes to life when someone explains the details. We also went to the Queenstown Exhibit in Cobh, Cork,Ireland. That was very good, too, a little more sophisticated. Hope you enjoy yourself. Northern Leitrim is beautiful if you have time to visit. Mary
thank yoou for your response, this trip home is one that I have really been looking forward to. I have spent the last year going through chemo therapy and feel so lucky to be able to make this long awaited trip. My cancer diagnosis came weeks before my wedding last year, and forced us to put off our honeymoon. But now we are ready. thank God !

If your plans include the south of Ireland, plan a stop at the Immigration Museum in Cobh but I would not make a special trip there from Roscommon. We were there in March and we were disappointed with it. To get back to Roscommon, if you are in Elphin, stop to see the Windmill and bring your camera. They finished restoring it last year. I hope that you and your husband will have a really wonderful trip.
Helen

Maureen! Just got back myself from Ireland on the 17th of July. It was a wonderful trip. We found all B&B's were great, so I don't think you will have a problem. I enjoyed the Famine Musuem in Stokestown, I also went to the Genealogy society. The musuem can direct you there. For scenery and nice trip we enjoyed the dingle pennisula, and connemera pennisula. Email if you want to know any specfic things, like weather, roads etc. Molly
