MORAN's in New York, USA

Post by KEVAN MORAN »

I am looking for my grandfather, John Patrick Moran,
who left for the USA at some time between 1916-1920.
This was the result of a family rift, and the man did
not communicate with his direct family again. It is very possible that he began a new family and was known
to have been working in a "speakeasy" in New York in the 20's. Is there any Moran's of New York whose family
could have our skeleton in their cupboard? Please offer
any information or help, We would be very pleased to
reciprocate in any way we can. Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.
My great grandmother Catherine Kilkenny Monahan had a sister Bridget who married a man named John O'Rourke. Both were from Aughavas, County Leitrim. They had seven children, one of whom was also named Bridget. Bridget married a man named John Moran. Bridget and John had nine children, three of whom I have been able to identify: Conan Moran who becsame a brother in the Holy Cross Order and died at Notre Dame a few years ago. (He worked in the campus book store.) Another brother, Michael Moran, remained in Ireland at home in Aughavas. The other identified brother was John Moran who was last reported to be living in San Antonio. If you think there is a connection, please let me know. Dominic Monahan

Do you know his parents names. I have Susan Eileen
Moran b. March 1, 1879 to James Moran and Bridget
Beirne. She came to NY about 1925 with husband
William Ryan. She was married in Strokestown R.C.
Church in 1893.
