Searching for Martin Donlan m. to Maria Hanly about 1860 in Cloontuskert or Ballyleague. Their children were James, Patrick, Timothy, Maria and possibly Eliza. The two Maria's and the three brothers came to N.Y. in the late 1880's. Maria came to California and the brothers settled in Pomfret, Connecticut. Patrick's parents might have been Martin Donlan and Ann Hanly. I don't know if Martin died in Ireland or not. Jeanne

Re: Hanly Clan
The Hanly Clan was revived in 1988 after a lapse of about 400 years. In 1991 the first Clan gathering took place in Limerick and since then gatherings have taken place in Athlone, Roscommon, Longford and Carrick on Shannon. The next clan gathering is being planned for September 2000. Further details will be available closer to the date.
The main objectives of the Clan are to share knowledge, kinship and friendship; to preserve the Hanly heritage for posterity and also the best celtic traditions namely they had no class hatred and acted through the impulse of affection. Their love of music and games are legendary: these coupled with physical strength and a civilized temperament are characteristics which have been handed down from generation to generation.
There are an estimated 5,000 people bearing the name in Ireland and possibly 10 times that amount worldwide.
For more information contact the Honorary Secretary,
John Hanly,
Deerpark,
Dundrum,
Co. Tipperary.
Membership IR10 for Irish residents and US$20 for non residents.
