Looking for information on Bohannon

Does anyone know any information on the surname Bohannon? I have been told by my grandfather that we are Irish, but the name is all I have to go on. Can anyone help?<p>I will greatly appreciate any help I can get.<p>Thanks.

When the Bishop of Elphin wrote to The Freeman's Journal complaining about the evictions by Denis Mahon, he listed the heads of the evicted households. The letter was published in April 1848.<br> It identifies a Frank Bohannon evicted from Mahon's Yard; a Michael Bohannon evicted from Goreygloss; and a Widow Bohannon evicted from Kilnordan More.<br> I hope this is helpful to you. Have you checked Griffith's for Kilglass Parish, which came out around 1857/58? <br> Mary Lee Dunn <p><br>
