The Hanly Clan was revived in 1988 after a lapse of about 400 years. In 1991 the first Clan gathering took place in Limerick and since then gatherings have taken place in Athlone, Roscommon, Longford and Carrick on Shannon.
The main objectives of the Clan are to share knowledge, kinship and friendship to preserve the Hanly Heritage for posterity and also to uphold the best Celtic traditions, namely that they had no class hatred but acted through the impulse of affection. Their love of musicand games are legendary: these coupled with physical strength and a civilised temperament are characteristics which have been handed down from generation to generation.
There are an estimated 5,000 people bearing the name in Ireland and possibly 10 times that number worldwide.
Annual memebership fee is IR10 for Irish residents and US$20 for non-residents.
For more information please contact the Honourary Secretary:
Mr John Hanly,
Deerpark,
Dundrum,
Co.
