A Very Big Thank You 'Keaveny Family Search'

Post by Raymond L. Walker Jr. »

To all who have responded to my request for information on the 'Keaveny' family I snd a very big Thank You. With out your help and this list I feel that I would have not been as far along in my geneology search.
I now have found out in the matter of a few days that my family used several variation in the spelling of the family name. They are as follows;
Keaveny
Keaveney
Keavney
Caveney (Family that went to England)
The family was centered around Roscommom, but also I now have Counties Sligo, Galway and Mayo to work on.
Names that continue to show up are:
*Micheal Keaveney (My Great Grandfather), County Mayo, Parish Crossmolina, Crossmolina.
*Luke Keaveny (My Great Uncle), County Galway, Parish Kibegret, Boleythomas.
*Micheal Edward Keveny (My Grandfather), came to US about 1907, b April 9, 1888, d January 7, 1962.
*James Keavney, John (Jack) Keaveny, Mary Keavney, Patrick Keaveny,and Thomas Edward Keavney..all of which would be sons of Micheal Keaveney shown as first name on this list.
Maybe someday when I go through my learning curve on this genelogical process I will be able to help someone else that is just starting. Once again a big "THANK YOU" to all.

Keaveny:
My great grandmother Anne Higgins (who m. Pat Moloney in California) had a sister Mary who married a man named Michael Keaveny, I don't know where). The Higgins family were from Moddoragh, near Drumkeeran, Inishmagrath parish, Co. Leitrim. The Keavenys lived in California, in 1880 in Petaluma, Sonoma Co, and in 1900 in San Francisco and were (probably) there at the time of the Great Fire (1906). Their son Frank Keaveny, was born in California in1874. He probably did not marry.
Do any of this look familiar to anyone?

In the Glenamaddy area, which is in County Galway but only just - six miles to Castlerea, Roscommon; the Keaveney/Keaveny families are the most numerous in the local telephone directory published by the Glenamaddy Development company. there are some 27 families listed; Several of the businesses in the town are run by Keavenys. Hope this is of use to you;
