WEST FAMILY

WEST
Looking for any information related to the family WEST resident in
Tubbercurry Ireland mid 1800's. They subsequently immigrated to the
United States. Some to New York and some to Coshocton, OHIO
Particularly searching for information on the parents of the following
family group:
1. John WEST b. 15 May 1846 (m. 5 Sept 1837 to Elizabeth JOHNSTON b.1846)
2. Susan Anderson WEST b. 22 Feb 1839 Roscommon(m. in USA to George Willans b. 9 July
1842 Leeds)
3. William WEST (may have been first born of this family group) was a member
of the Revenue Police in Ballycastle Co. Mayo c.1849 [possible marriage
to Jane Walker]
4. Eliza WEST b. ? (m. EBURY)
5. Thomas WEST b.?
6. Mary WEST b.? (m. CRAVEN)
The above listed brothers and sisters may have had other siblings who
remained unmarried.
It is believed the father of the above children was WILLIAM WEST, the
maiden name of their mother is unknown, it could have been ANDERSON. The
parents could have been married circa 1825-35 either in northern counties
of England or Scotland or in Ireland.
[Church and public records for this
period, for the most part, appear to be lost or destroyed, hence the
difficulty]. The family has documentation of residence in Ireland in
Roscommon, Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo, and Ballycastle, Co. Mayo in the time
period 1846 - 1873 from the birth of Susan Anderson WEST to the
immigration of John WEST and his wife.
Does anyone have information that will help us make some connections
regarding the origins of this family group?
Does anyone have suggestion of reference sources for locating information
on WILLIAM WEST, the patriarch of this group?
This history can be viewed at
http://www.bright.net/~hhelser/genealog ...
Sheila Helser
