Trying to find someone who's related to Travers. My ggggrandfather was Bartholomew Travers married to Catherine Rooney or Mooney. He came to New York in 1851 with his children Anne, John and Michael William. Believe he had at 7 brothers, 3 were named John, James and Owen Travers. Catherine evidently died in Ireland. Michael was in the Civil War and he and Anne came to San Francisco in the 1880's. Thanks for the info. I checked my map and Drumkeeran is south of Drumohair. Is Towneycorrey in the same area? I can't rule out this possibility but I don't know how to check for records. Do you know what Catholic Parish this would be and how to access same? Thanks for your help. Jeanne<br>

The Travers we have been discussing are in the RC parish if Inishmagrath. Most of the church records between about 1840 to 1880 have been lost. Pre 1840 records available in the NL in Dublin. <p>Also the Griffith valuation, the canceled books and the Tith data may be helpful.<p>It ain't easy!<p><p><p><p><br>: Thanks for the info. <br>Please excuse my internet ignorance. Concerning Travers, I have a number of Travers <br>relatives in the family from Gorey, Ireland, south of Dublin. The family there goes back to an Edward Travers, a shoe maker in the mid 1800s. <br>There are quite a number in that area and a Michael Fitzpatrick, a cousin and Travers descendant, is an historian in Gorey, County Wexford who has written 3 books on the town and knows alot about the Travers famlies there.
