CONNOR/STEWART

Post by Mike CONNOR »

My g.g. grandfather was one Thomas CONNOR (B:Oct 11, 1842) in Roscommon County, Ireland. His parents were, my g.g.g. grandfather, Thomas CONNOR and Mary STEWART. No further information is known about Thomas (Sr.) or his wife Mary STEWART, their parents, siblings or any of their children except Thomas (Jr.). Thomas (Jr.) and possibly other family members emigrated to the U.S., exact date unknown. Family stories (a few of which I have been able to prove as more wishful thinking than truth, indicate he was conscripted into the English Navy and was able to walk off his ship in New York(?). Thomas CONNOR (Jr.) married one Mary Elizabeth COCHLIN, who had been previously married to a subject WILLARD in New York. Both Mary COCHLIN and Thomas (Jr.) moved to Murray County, Minnesota, U.S. with a twelve year old daughter (first marriage) Lettie WILLARD-STAFFORD. I have been able to determine that Thomas (Jr.) applied for U.S. Citizenship in 1866 (Minnesota) and received his citizenship in 1881. Mary Died in 1882 in Murray County. Thomas (Jr.) had the following children, Robert Owen CONNOR (B:Jan 21, 1871) (my g. grandfather) who married to Annie Helena OWEN and later to one Elizabeth BOND. Minnie Gertrude CONNOR (B:Nov 10-1872), who married one William SOWARD in Lyon County, Minnesota, in 1891, Ella May CONNOR (B: Dec 27, 1874), who later married one Fred OWEN, Charles C. CONNOR (B:Apr 26,
1878), George H. CONNOR (B:May11,1880), John CONNOR (B:Jun 6, 1884) and Nora CONNOR (B:May 26, 1887). All the above children were born in Murray County, Minnesota. My g.grandfather, Robert Owen CONNOR had a number of children in South Dakota one of which was my grandfather Virgil Thomas CONNOR who married Drucilla Jane PASSEY. After all this, I am seeking any information with respect to the above, particularly as it relates to my g.g.g. grandfather-Thomas CONNOR and or his wife Mary STEWART etc. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Mike CONNOR
