William Cunnaun was born at the intersection of Roscommon/Mayo/Sligo. In the 1850s he was Parish Clerk (and schoolteacher) in the parish of Baslick, now Tulsk. He kept the Baptismal and Marriage records. In a famous dispute in 1869 he refused to turn over the Registers until paid salary he claimed he was owed. The PP refused. Cunnaun is said to have emigrated to the US and the Registers were never recovered. They cover at least 1850 - 1869, perhaps longer. Any good ideas out there?
