I have Elleanor Cole (AKA Nellie) born circa 1810 and died 1855. She was married to my gg-grandfather, Daniel O'Neill of Cattan Townland, Co. Leitrim.<p>Family story goes that Daniel may have originated in Co. Cavan, but all records of children born to Nellie Cole and Daniel O'Neill from 1831 to 1852 take place in the Parish of Gortletteragh, so they were in the area since then at least.<p>Nellie Cole had a sister called Jane or Janet who married Michael Harvey and apparently they had adjacent farmland. <p>The Cole name is not that prevalent and I am wanting to find out whether the O'Neill's or the Coles were the original inhabitants of the "O'Neill" homeplace as it is known.<p>Any suggestions would be welcome.<p>Thanks.<p>Kathy Clare (Vancouver, Canada e-mail gclare@sprint.ca)
