Fenian Uprising in 1867

Post by mevans »

Does anyone know how to locate a list of Fenians who were under arrest warrants for their activities in Dublinbetween 1865 and 1867. I understand that there was a list published in a police bulletin known as the Hue & Cry (page2) on Sept 29,1865. Am looking for a James Tansey from Keadue, Co Roscommon who may have been among the list. Also would like to know what ships were transporting the Fenian convicts to the US in the same time frame.

They were sent to Australia and you can check the convicts list in the Irish National Archives at http://www.nationalarchives.ie/search01.html
By the way, Keadue is usually a winner in the annual "Tidy Towns" contest.
For Hue & Cry, try the university holdings ar http://www.curlopac.ac.uk/copac
This is a great resource.
