Thomas ElWOOD (1853-1921) migrated to Paterson, NJ, USA.. Father was John ELWOOD and mother Catherine HENSEN. Have confirmed that Thomas had at least one sibling, Patrick ELWOOD. It is thought but not certain that the family lived in the Strokestown area?

My mother who was born in that townland in 1912(since deceased) talked about a Pat Elwood and a Stephen Elwood who might have been a cousin.
I havn"t done any research back farther than that. That area would be about twelve miles from Carrick-on-Shannon.
I have been told at one time that all the McLoughlins from that area were once related.

I don't have too much information on the McLoughlins, just this: My ggrandmother Mary Nolan Elwood was the daughter of Michael Nolan and Catherine Mcloughlin. Again, I surmise that the families were from the greater Strokestown area in Roscommon but I have no concrete evidence or other leads. If you have any further information please let me know.
Gene Elwood
