Beirne/Nolan/McDermott c. 1850

Post by Ken Beirne »

Apparently all my relatives on both sides came 3000 miles and married people all from Roscommon. Anyway, I am searching for info on the parents of Bernard Beirne, born c. 1864, in Frenchpark,to, I think, Michael and Anne Grehan Beirne. Bernard also had a brother Martin. Also on Luke Nolan and Catherine McDermott, who had a daughter Catherine Nolan(other children Anne and Luke)b. 3/4/1864, Kilbride Parish. Luke may have been a gatekeeper at Lord French(?) estate.

I am researching a Mary or Mariah Nolan who married a John Smyth in Tully, Ballygar, County Galway in 1881. Mariah Nolan was born in Muckena and had brother Luke. Her parents were Patrick and ?Anne Kelly. Mariah's siblings, Anne and Luke, settled in Massachusetts. If you think there is any connection please let me know. Thanks.

You never can tell with these things. However, I am pretty sure that my Luke and Anne and Catherine's parents were Luke Nolan and Catherine McDermott, and so could not have been siblings of Mary(Mariah). This is not to say, of course, that there could not be a connection starting a generation further back(e.g. your Patrick might have been related to my early Luke), but I do not yet have information
on that generation.
It is possible Bridget's last name was Raftery, but this is very tentative. If anyone has any information about the Michael Beirne-Bridget(Raftery) marriage it would be a great help.
