Records indicate that the family arrived about 1835. Michael was the son of John and I have no name for his mother. The spellings varied from Dignan and Dignam to Dignum. There were several "Dignam" families from Westmeath in Albany in the late 1800s. I think my family may be from the Athlone area, but I can not be certain. Finally, Michael's first wife was Ellen Ham and his second wife was Bridget Egan. I am not certain of their home counties.
