Post by Michael Feeheley Da Costa »

Can anyone with an Irish phonebook tell me if there are any families with the surnames Banks or Feeheley (variant spellings) left in Country Leitrim or Sligo? I am trying to see if I still have any distant relatives in the area.
Thanks!!!
Mike

My clan is from the east
end of Galway in Ballinasloe on the border of
Roscommon. I was not able to establish a link
between the Feehily's of Sligo and our clan further
south. I did learn that variant spellings of our
great name owe their origin to the different ways
in which families translated the old "Irish" name
into english. My cousin in Ballinasloe--also Jack
Feehily--told me the irish spelling was o'faichlich.
Hope this info is of some help. If you have more
information about Feehilys I would be eager to
know.
Cette mille failte,
Jack Feehily
Moore, Oklahoma
