Frain / McNulty

Post by Anne Boyle »

Trying to trace John Frain, born approx 1850, in Ballyhaunis, I believe, and Anne McNulty, born 1850. They emigrated to Oldham, lancashire. Anyone else on their trail, or any clues ? Both catholic, may have married before emigrating.

Several of her children were born in Charlestown.
Your John would have been about 1-1/2 to 2 years younger than
Catherine. She was married in Kilbeagh in March 11, 1866 at the
age of 18 to Martin Durkan who was almost 40 at the time, if
one can believe these records.
Catherine's Father was James Frain and her mother Ellen Gallagher Frain. Ellen lived to be more than 100 years old. She shows up on the 1901 census in Roscommon. She was born right around the time
that George Washington died and lived to see trains, airplanes,
the automobile, telephone, and telegraph! What a lifespan.
Oh, yes, I almost forgot to mention that McNulty was on my mother's list of surnaem to my family is related. But by the time that she wrote it she was too sick to remember details. But I thought that you should know this because one neve nevers where the research of a surname will take one.

Several
