Any info on the Goggins name?

Post by Cameron Campbell »

My Great great grandfather was named James Goggins. He arrived in Wisconsin in 1858 from Ireland to escape the famine. He married Eliz Kilbride and had sons named Andrew Goggins, Joseph, and James; and daughters named Katherine "Kate" and Mary. Later, Andrew married Fannie Burns Taylor and had two sons, Leon Edward and Joseph. Andrew and Fannie divorced while the boys were infants. Fannie went West to Moscow, Idaho. She took the older boy, Leon, with her. She left the younger son, Joe, with Andrew. But Andrew chose not to raise Joe, so he had his sister, Mary Staudenraus, raise Joe as her own in Wisconsin. Andrew assumed the role as "uncle". Fannie remarried in Moscow, raising Leon by her new married name, Campbell. Upon Mary Staudenraus' death bed she confessed to Joe that she was not his natural mother. Joe spent years tracing his lost mother and brother "out west somewhere". They reunited in the 50s, but the family tree is fractured by two adopted surnames:Campbell&Staudenraus

In reference to Goggins name. I was married to
James Goggans(we spell with an a). I have three
children by him. His father was John Elbert Goggans and John Elbert had a brother names Lonnie. James was the only son. He and I have
two sons - Gary Jason Goggans and Kevin Wayne
Goggans and a daughter, Cindy Eloise Goggans Smith.
Elbert and Lonnie were merchants and cotton farmers. During the depression, they had money
and every one else did not, so they bought all the
land around in Herbine, Arkansas (south of Pine
Bluff) 4000acres,. They paid $1.00 per acre
They both died in 70's.
that's all I know. I do not know their ancestors.
Elbert was a big, tall man with business mind
and didnt care for the fields. Lonnie was the
farmer. He had families living on his land that
did his work.
Corine
