I am trying to locate exactly where he came from Leitrum.

A Chairde, Dear Folks,
You shall find that the surname (Mac Giolla Eoin > ) 'Mc Glone', aka Mc Gloin (with a long 'o' sound in that region) and the placename (Cionn Locha > ) 'Kinlough' are very often in tandem. Kinlough is a pleasant village to the south west of Loch Meilgean > Loch Melvin, Co. Leitrim.
(Gleann Éada > ) Glenade is a fine valley to the south of Kinlough having a lake of the name, Glenade. There many families of Mc Glone in the area. The same name further north (Donegal, etc.) is pronounced Mac Aloon, and mostly written so in English.
Good luck with the search - Ádh mór oraibh.
