Am seeking information on James Burns (possibly Burnes or O'Beirne) who was possibly born in County Roscommon around 1741. He (and family?) emigrated to America, port unknown, but James died in an Indian attack on Fort Donnally in Greenbrier County, Virginia (now West Virginia) on May 29, 1778. Ha married a Jane Dietz and had a son, also James, born in Greenbrier County January 15, 1768. Am trying to establish the Irish (or possibly Scottish) roots of this Burns family.
