Family of Thomas Finn of Townland Tully, Parish Moore

Post by Tom Finn »

I am researching my great granfather, Thomas Finn, and his family who lived in the townland of Tully in the parish of Moore. He and his wife, Anne, had 14 children. My grandfather, John, had 4 brothers and 9 sisters. The family is listed in the 1901 Census. Sons were Thomas, William, Robert, Patrick(not listed in the census, died in 1900), John(not listed, living in Australia).Daughthers were Lizzie, Kate, Ellen, Letitia, Sarah, Margaret, Mary(not listed), Hanah(not listed) and Babs(not listed, died very young). His brother, Thomas, stayed in Ireland and married Elizabeth(?). He died in 1960 and is buried with his wife, father Thomas, mother Anne, and younger brother Patrick in the same grave. I have a picture of the monument but I don't know the location.
Thanks in advance for any information.

If they are not there try the 'old' cemetery which I think is in the townland of Moore South which is up a narrow little road beside the Post Office opposite the Church. Take a right at the first fork and follow the road around the hill for about a mile. There are also old cemetaries in Kilbegly near Ballinasloe and Cloonburren near the Shannon. By the way the census also reports that Thomas and Anne were born in Co. Galway. There were several Thomas Finns connected with the Townland of Culliaghmore, Moore going back to Griffiths so don't get them confused.
