My Great Great Grandparents Luke & Mary Caveney were
evicted from Ballykilcline in 1848 and left on the "Progress"
for Liverpool. Would be interested to learn Mary's maiden name.
Also their son Edward (my Great Grandfather, married a
"Maria" from Co. Mayo, in England) would also be interested to
learn her maiden name. Any information on the Caveney
family would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
Luke and Mary are on the official list of evictees from Ballykilcline, along with seven children. Do you know why they remained in England, rather than go on to the U.S. as had been planned?
Please see the web site at www.ballykilcline.com The Ballykilcline Society would be happy to share information with you.

Did the Caveney family take the bounty to go on the Progress to America and then later return to England?
My Ballykilcline Society colleague Lynne Sisk has found a manifest of the Progress at Ancestry.com, which shows these Caveneys:
Ann, age 17
Edward, age 12
Luke, age 10
Luke, age 46
Mary, age 19
Mary, age 46
Patk, age 17
Thomas, age 15
The list of evictees from Ballykilcline did not give Luke's wife's first name, but said she was 40 years old. Daughter Catherine, age 1 on the evictees list, is missing from the ship list. Daughter Ann is listed as 7 years old on the evictees list, not 17.
Otherwise though, the names and ages all match on the two lists.
Do you have any records that document the UK Caveney family's homeplace as Ballykilcline, Kilglass Parish, or County Roscommon?
If so, when did they return to England from the U.S. and why?
Thanks, Mary Lee Dunn
