Kirkwoods in Roscommon, 1800s

In some old family documents I have found one which indicates (though only sketchily) that three of my ancestors were High Sheriffs of Roscommon. I would love to learn if this is true, especially as my wife and I may be making our first trip to Ireland next summer. I hope that someone may be able to either answer my question or to point me to someone who can. The people involved would have been (this is how it is shown on the document):
James Kirkwood, J.P., High Sheriff (no dates given)
his son Thomas Kirkwood, Esq., J.P., High Sheriff in 1808
and his son James Kirkwood, Esq., J.P., High Sheriff in 1848, died in 1862.
From James it would have been four more generations to my Father Thomas Kirkwood West, and five to me, Arthur Kirkwood West. Can anyone help me in any way toward my goal of learning more about these three people? Thanks.
