Help needed - Doyle/dignan Castlerea

Post by sez »

Hi I am new to this site, hope someone can put in in the right direction. I am looking (unsuccesfully) for information on my grandfather and great grandfather.

Grandfather born 1906 in Castlerea parish of Kilkearan (cant find Kilkearan anywhere) to a Thomas Doyle and Maggie Doyle (maiden name Dignan) I cant find mother or father on 1901 census or anywhere else.

any help would be appreciated.[/b]

Found a little more out re:- Doyle / Dignan if anyone can help

Had 2 Sons Thomas Born 1906 (as Said)
James Born about 1908/9

Thomas Doyle snr died in ireland before 1919, (cant find any death records) Maggie came to england with both sons and a british soldier we think called Arthur turner around 1919.

Both Thomas snr and Maggie couldn't read or write. So could she have been the publican in the 1901 census.

Please help

Where did you find the reference to “Castlerea” parish of Kilkearan?

Maybe it should read Castlerea, Civil parish of Kilkeevan (Catholic parish of Castlerea).

If it refers to the town of Castlerea you can check the LDS 1911 Census film.

See http://www.leitrim-roscommon.com/MAPS/kilkeevin.html

Have you checked the LDS Civil marriage and Civil birth Indexes?

Hi john

Castlerae parish of Kilkearan was on the birth certificate of Thomas born in 1906

I have just started to do the trace but cant seem to find any trace of their marriage, death or other sons births. I have looked on the Mormon church records but nothing there. Any other links you might know would be appreciated.

Thanks
