Related Surname Info: I am looking for information on any Rowan's from the Athlone area. My great-grandmother Delia (Bridget) Rowan was born in the Athlone area in 1874 and later moved to the United States in the late 1890's. Her parents were Stephen Rowan and Bridget Manning (spelled Mannion on their wedding certificate), and they were married in 1860.
Their children were Margaret Rowan, b. 1862 and died in East Orange NJ in 1944; Thomas Rowan, b. 1864, emigrated to the U.S. in 1913 and died 1919 in Bronx, NY; John, b. 1866; Patrick, b. 1868; James, b. 1870. My great-grandmother Delia was born in 1874, married Patrick Greene, also of Athlone, in Manhattan in 1905, and died in the Bronx in 1926.
