As you can see, I am distressed. I am the grandson of a Patrick Brennan, son of Patrick Brennan, farmer. Possible birth parish Ballinasloe. And the boundaries changed too!
Does anyone out there know of a Patrick Brennan born early 1889 ish, with brothers Bernard (killed WW1 - enlisted Tuam) and John.
He had sisters Margaret married John Dylan/Dillon and Mary or Kate married John Lett.
These five moved to Lancashire in the early 1900's. There may be others.
My grandfather Patrick is reputed to have played gaelic football in the 1908 final for Galway. Any ideas how I can check this out?
Also he is supposed to have been cared for by monks as a child and young man.
He also worked at a sugar beet procesing plant somewhere round Tuam. Is it a farm? Is it a factory? Does it still exist?
Questions, questions, questions ....
I know this is a Roscommon site but my family seemed to be close to the border. And now they are sending me over the edge!!!

Look in the phone book available here thru Ed's great pages and you'll find just 9 listings for Brennan's in and around Tuam. I didn't check Ballinasloe. You'll also find Irish Sugar PLC in Tuam but I think they're just distributing these days. As to Irish Football (and Hurling) log on to www.gaa.ie, the Gaelic Athletic Association. BTW, Mayo won Connacht in 1908.
