They resided in Edenan & Kinclare, parish of Shankill, Co Roscommon.
Hi, Barbara,
The souvenir book of the Mantua National School 1822-1997 lists a number of children named Lowe in the school after 1870. Judging from the TAB and Griffith¹s for that area, which also appear in the book, the name Lowe is not common there; these are the Harringstons listed in Griffith¹s (1858) in townlands of Kilcolagh Parish: Ml Harrington in Eden & Kinclare (who rented from landowner ODJ Grace); also Ml Harrington in Kinclare; and Myles Harrington and Brian Harrington in Mullenduff.
The Lowe children in the schools, as reported in the school registers in the souvenir book, between 1880 and 1910 are:
(BOYS -- list begins 1867) Michael (1884), age 9, of Eden & Kinclare, father a farmer; Tom (1889), age 8, of Eden & Kinclare, father a farmer; James (1905), age 4, of Eden & Kinclare, father a farmer; Mat (1905), age 9, of Eden & Kinclare, father a farmer.
(GIRLS -- list begins 1888) Mary (1891), age 6, of Eden & Kinclare, father a farmer; Winnie (1893), age 8, of Eden & Kinclare, father a farmer; and Kate (1897), age 9, of Eden & Kinclare, father a labourer.
The book was printed at Purcell Print, Boyle (079) 62890. I hope this helps. Good luck.
Mary Lee Dunn
