The Irish Times Digital Archives from 1859 to the present day can be read (and downloaded) free from 27/03/09 - 05/04/09.
Go to their site http://www.irishtimes.com
and click on "DIGITAL ARCHIVES"
Scroll down to near the bottom of the page and you'll see the clickable link to the archives.

Sadly I missed this free opportunity to read and download the newspaper archives. I am still contemplating subscribing. Would anyone have any comments about what you found and how long it took? I see quite an expansive number of newspapers offered. Are they all accessible? The Nation seems to be the oldest....
