Has anyone experience of finding records of these men? My great Uncle John Rooney fought in the British army in WW1 and survived. There are far too many John Rooneys listed in the UK records mostly with too little detail to let me identify my man, so I thought I might try from the other end.
Although born in Roscommon, he was working and living in Galway Town in 1914. Would the Connaught Rangers be the recruiting force here? How would I go about finding out if his record is in their archives?
Thanks for any help, Maggie
