MC DERMOTTROE

Post by Marcas O Murchu »

Kilbryan parish is situated near Lough key in beautiful Roscommon and neighbouring Agahanagh parish in Sligo, which is equally as attractive.Lough Gara and Moygara between Gurteen and Boyle is lovely place nesting between Sligo and Roscommon, Kilmactranny is on the road to Ballyfarnon and Alderford house where harpist Carolan once entertained the Mc Dermottroe family. Ballaghdereen and Frenchpark border the Mayo and Roscommon area. Was your ancestor from any of these places? Did any Mr or Miss Mc Dermottroe(or Mr Mc Dermott-roe ancestor) or Mc Dermott, perhaps originally Mc Dermottroe set foot on this hallowed soil before you ? They all descend from the chieftain Diarmaid Rua 1320AD. I would be interested in hearing from you. My mother was one and I would like to perpetuate her family name and their history for coming generations. All e-mails will be answered.<br>Regards Marcas
