I am doing a little amateur genealogy and was wondering what info someone might be able to share.
My father is from a very large family in the village of Kiltycrevagh, Ballinamuck, County Longford Ireland. He and most of the family had emigrated to the USA by the late 50's. His father, Charles Faughnan born around 1880, (died in Ireland 1952) was the local tailor & the family was known as the "Tailor Faughnans". Charles was originally from Cattan Lake in Leitrim. Charles married my Grandmother, the former Ellen McKenna in 1906.
Charles brother was James "The Soldier" Faughnan. James syaed in Leitrim as did his son John who had a large family of which Phil Faughnan and hios wife Agnes Cullum from Rookie raised their family in the 1960 & 70's, and they Fintan and Gerrad are still in the Cattan Lake homestead with their family.
Charles had another brother John (Jack) the Barber
I am looking specificaaly for any information on who Charles father was. Any details, copies of documents or sources to obtain info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Michael

I looked from 1877
to 1883, and there were many Faughnan births, most of which occurred in Longford Registration District and Mohill Registration District. There was only one Charles among them, and his birth occurred in Mohill during the second quarter of 1878. I do not know if this is your grandfather. If you want to see this registration it is available through LDS and is on FHL #0256004. It is on page 276 of volume 3 according to the index.
Good Luck,
Tom Voyles
