Looking into a John McGreevey, who married Bridget Gill (Moran), was her second husband, probably near the Strokestown area. In 1901 this Bridget was in Ballyduffy, Lissonuffy, listed a widow on the 1901 census, with son John McGreevey, 16y. If I had to est. this John McGreevey's birth year, I would place it betw. 1845 and 1853. There may appear to be another child, Bridget (abt. 1882). Not sure is she is a McGreevey child or child from first marriage (John Moran). Bridget (Gill, Moran)McGreevey and all her children from first and second marriages, immigrated to NY in the early 1900's (have exact dates) and settled in Brooklyn, NY.
It's a real tangled web and looking for any clues in sorting this family out. Thanks.
Also working on the Ryan family, Corbohil-Strokestown.
Tom Schmidt-NY

It is an area (or hamlet) on the slopes of a mountain called "Slieve Bawn, which about 3 miles outside Strokestown. There is an Inn or pub at the foot of the mountain which used to be called "Gibbons Pub", and may still be so-called. 30 years or more ago the pub was run by a Mrs. Gibbons (who died in 1970. She was an Egan before marriage, and her two brothers Peter and Hubert ran a small farm next to Ballyduffy. The people who now run the pub may be ab le to help you.
Good hunting!
Arthur Fanning.
