I am continuing on my mission with amateur genealogy and made a major advance after a suggestion from a viewer of this board (Tom Voyles) with regard to my Grandfather and where to verify his DOB & parents. I can now refine my post to include my Great Grand father Hugh Faughnan, (Cattan) as follows.
My father is from a very large family in the village of Kiltycrevagh, Ballinamuck, County Longford Ireland. He and most of the family had emigrated to the USA by the late 50's. His father, Charles Faughnan born April 07, 1878, (died in Ireland 1952) was the local tailor & the family was known as the "Tailor Faughnans". Charles was originally from Cattan Lake in Leitrim. Charles married my Grandmother, the former Ellen McKenna in 1906 and raised ther family in Ballinamuck Longford.
Charles Faughnan's father was Hugh Faughnan who died in 1904 and was married to Ellen Donnelly who also died in 1904 (Census suggests that she was born in Longford). Both lived in Cattan, Leitrim. Charles was not listed in the 1901 census as he was away learning the Tailoring trade in Edinburgh, Scotland for a few years.
The census does show that Hugh & Ellen had the following family.
James Faughnan b 1859, John Faughnan b 1861, Hugh Faughnan b 1864, and Ann Faughnan b 1867.
I do not know much about their families and in fact were unaware of other than James and John until I tied Hugh and Charles toghether via the LDS Civil registration index of births.
I am looking specifically for any information on Hugh and Ellens family, siblings and or parents. Charles Any details, copies of documents or sources to obtain info would be appreciated.
Also any recommendations with regard to how I might track down the vital stats on Hugh & Ellen. Hugh could have been born any where from 1810 to 1840 as there is conflicting info with regard to how old they both are when referenced against the 1901 Census

Thanks,
Michael
