Trying to tie my roots back to Ireland My great grandfather John McDermott was married to Annie Horan both from the Roscommon area with births circa 1843-1844. They immigrated to US and settled in Grand Rapids, Michigan where they had six children:<br> James Thomas McDermott (1872-1938) congressman from Illinois<br> Harry Hall McDermott (1883-1944) lived Willmette, Illinois<br> Sarah Ellen McDermott (married Jack Eiff)<br> Anne McDermott<br> Beatrice McDermott (married Mr. Graham)<br> John McDermott<p>Does anyone know of this branch of the clan...they moved from Grand Rapids to Detroit in 1884 and lived in the section called "Old Corktown" ? Is John McDermott the most common name in all of Roscommon? Any help would be appreciated.<p><br>
