Laven, Lavin, Rogers

Post by Catherine Lopez »

My grandparents were Martin Rogers and Ellen Laven. They had 3 or 4
sons, Martin born Jan 16, 1870, John, Patrick and I think Thomas. All
I know for sure is that their son Martin was born in Frenchpark,
Roscommon. Ellen Laven was born in 1841 according to her grave stone.
She came to the United States with her youngest (Martin) sometime
around 1873. Her brothers Patrick, John and we think Thomas Laven
(Lavin) had emigrated to Litchfield, Connecticut, USA before her. If
anyone has information about any of these people please respond. Thanks!

My g-grandfather, Patrick Neary, also came from Frenchpark. I found baptism records for him and 8 siblings in LDS film # 989738, which has baptism(1859-1880) and marriage records(1860-1880)for Kilnamanagh parish. Looking at my own records, I see a Catherine Lavin and a Brigid Lavin, who were both linked with Nearys, though not mine. Your Ellen may be in there as well.

: My grandparents were Martin Rogers and Ellen Laven. They had 3 or 4
: sons, Martin born Jan 16, 1870, John, Patrick and I think Thomas. Thanks for your suggestion. How do I access the LDS film? I'm really new at this geneology research stuff.
: My g-grandfather, Patrick Neary, also came from Frenchpark. LDS=Latter Day Saints. You can access their vast collection of microfilmed records at a Family History Center (FHC). Go to www.familysearch.org to search for records, access the catalog of resources, and see if there is a FHC in your area.

: Thanks for your suggestion. How do I access the LDS film?
