Flynn Family in Altavra

Post by Kathleen Trotta »

This is my yearly message!!!! My grandmother, Catherine Flynn, came from Altavra to the U. S. in 1908. She was from Altavra (Killargue Parish) in Co. Leitrim. Her parents were Hugh Flynn and Bridget (Bessie) McPartland Flynn (from Derryvalanagher Glebe, Inishmagrath Parish). Other siblings in the family were Mary, Ellen, John, Hugh, Anne, Bridget, Margaret, and my grandmother, Catherine, who was the youngest. Bridget came to America, never married and never had children. Anne came to America, married John Currestine, who was a New York City policeman, and they had no children. Margaret came to America, settled in South Orange, New Jersey and from what I know, she married a Flynn, and they had a son named Michael.
My grandmother, Catherine Flynn was born in 1884. She settled with her husband, Luke Farrell (who was from Ballymahon in Co. Longford), in South Orange, New Jersey.
