New book from Patrick Lavin on Gaelic Clans

Post by Mary Lee Dunn »

Patrick Lavin's latest book is entitled Celtic Ireland West of the River Shannon / A Look Back at the Rich Heritage and Dynastic Structure of the Gaelic Clans.
A press release describes it as "a concise yet insightful survey of Celtic history, focusing on the origin, genealogy, and expansion of western Ireland's leading clans and tributary septs."
Among the tribal communities on which he focuses are the O'Hanlys, MacBrennans, and O'Beirnes. He presents them as "microcosms of what Gaelic tribal life throughout the Middle Ages was like."
Patrick is a native of Roscommon who now lives in Arizona and he has written several other books. His Lavin history is posted elsewhere on this site.
The new book (ISBN 0-595-26477-8)is available from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, iUniverse Inc., etc. It is 196 pages, a paperback.
Enjoy. And congratulations and thanks to Patrick.

The book was not currently available at Amazon.com.
The book is very reasonable, and the fact that it has information on the O'Beirne Clan is a huge plus for me.
I wish Patrick the best of luck with his new book.
Thanks Patrick!
Mary Beirne.
