The Gannon family from Castlebar in Mayo, and the Callanan family from Kilconnell in Galway.
: Correction: My grandparents were married in 1917, not 1921. Re: My family: Hession
Hello
I live in England, and have been discussing the contents of your pages and some others, connected with Roscommon, with my Aunt (nee Anne Hession) who is about as far back as I can go. She is about 60. She and her elder sister Margaret, recently went to Chesterfield (England) to do a bit of tree searching. They came up with 2 things that make the hair on the back of your neck stick out! Though they didn't it at the time!
1) One of their (& my)ancestors married in Roscommon, and emigrated to the States in the early 1900's (very inaccurate but more investigation is now underway) and we THINK either one or both was/were killed in a car accident, We are not sure whether or not the surviving partner died anyway shortly afterwards...We do know that several Hession family members did emigrate far and wide, including USA, and Australia.
2) The name of the family Mr Hession married int was Sharkey, another prominent web page name...
Food for thought.
When I get more, I'll let you know. If you can give me some names it might help with the Church records and things...
Best regards,
Jim Hession
