Thomas H. Rooney/Bridge Siggins (wife to)

Post by Arleen Rooney »

A cousin traced our family tree to the Roscommon area. I was in Roscommon May of 1997. Visited the geneological office in Strokestown but was told I needed more information. Can anyone help.
Thomas H. Rooney came to the United States in the 1800's. He was born in 1837 in or near Roscommon County. They were farmers. His wife was Bridget Siggins or Figgins. She was 11 years his senior. She died in 1902 and birthyear estimated at 1826. Thomas H. Rooney died in 1917. They are both buried in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold, New Jersey - USA. They had 4 children. Michael, Mary, John and Thomas. Do not know if they were born in Ireland or in the USA. Feel they were probably born in the USA. Have the full family tree from Thomas H. Rooney on in the USA but want to go back to the Irish roots.
Any help would be appreciated.
Arleen Rooney
Corgi_ally@prodigy.net

I wonder if John Rooney, the son of Thomas is my grandfather. I
vaguely remember hearing that his family was from NJ. He was born in the states, his parents in Ireland. He came to the
Boston area (Hyde Park) and married Anna McCaffrey (?), they had six
children, my father Joseph Francis Xavier Rooney being one of them. Do you know where
Thomas's children settled?? Please let me know if this seems to make sense. Thank you.
Noreen Rooney
