Thank you Eddie Lynn Davis
:I am the great grandson of William Maitland Anderson (through Charles Samuel Anderson through Ray Anderson).
I am guessing that we are related, but I am not sure how; what is your relation to William Maitland?
I am also wondering if you know Anna Beth Ward, who has spent many years researching the Anderson family history?
My wife and I travelled to Scotland late last year looking for information about Jane Kennedy / Samuel Anderson / etc.
We certainly have some information about Samuel and Jane and their family, although we'd certainly like to find more.
I'll summarize what we know, and can give you more details if you have an interest.
Jane was born in Ireland about 1818, most likely somewhere in the 5 counties of Northern Ireland because of her
Presbyterian background. Samuel would have been born about 1817 in Ireland. The Great Famine hit Ireland in 1845, and most
likely drove them to Scotland along with many others. Samuel worked as a "sugar baker" in a sugar refinery in Port Glasgow
Scotland, and they were married in the Parish church there in April 1846. We have visited that church. A year later their
daughter Mary was born. In 1849, with Jane pregnant, they sailed aboard a ship called the Cuthberts (at nearby Greenoch
Scotland) to the United States. We visited the old Custom House in Greenoch from which thousands of Irish and Scottish
emigrants last saw their homeland.
I'll not say anymore at this point until I find out more about you. I was quite surprised to find a "hit" when I did a search for
William Maitland Anderson!
