Frenchpark, Tibohine, Fairymount area histories?
Is anyone aware of any local histories covering Tibohine Civil Parish, Frenchpark Barony, Fairymount area, etc.? I've gathered a good deal of information on families in this area thanks to this site and other resources (including you, Ed). However, I'd dearly love to obtain any histories, stories, j...

Dyer's of Roscommon
I have a number of Dyer's in my tree. Mine were located in Tibohine Civil Parish, and primarily came out of the Frenchpark, Fairymount areas, and more specifically the village of Cloonfad. You should check the census records on this site. If you have some names or other information, I'll be happy to...

Lisahart - 1749 Elphin Census
The townland of Lisahart appears in the 1749 Elphin Census. However it isn't to be found in later records. Does anyone know if this townland name may have changed and what it would be called in later census records for Tibohine civil parish? There are Callaghans in Lisahart that I believe are part o...

Roscommon Before the Famine
You can order this book from Barnes & Noble at a cost of $14.50. Much cheaper than other places I've seen. I also enjoyed RIOUTOUS ROSCOMMON as mentioned by Ed. Finally, another interesting book on the area is Maire McDonnell-Garvey's MID-CONNNACTH. I picked it up in Ireland but you can probably...

Boyle and Frenchpark Civil Registration Districts
Does anyone know whether or not some of the early records for marriages or births listed in the Boyle Registration District could have referred to individuals who subsequently would have been part of the Frenchpark Distict after it was carved out from a portion of Boyle and some County Mayo towns an...

John Hunter comes through once again! One little thing--Nora is often the nickname for Honora, a common first name in the area (probably all of Ireland as well). P.S. to John if you read this: I understand that Frenchpark Barony was formed (one source said 1846, but I'm not sure this fits) out of pa...

Frenchpark is both a town and a civil registration district in County Roscommon. I have ancestors, for example, who came out of a townland called Cloonfad but records will often only refer to the Frenchpark registration district. I have a link to a marriage between a McDonnell and a Rogers, both of ...

Timothy (or Thady) Callaghan and Bridget Corcoran were both born and lived in Cloonfad, not far from Lisdrumneil. I have a lot of information on them as Thady and my great-grandmother Bridget Callaghan were siblings. Why don't you contact me directly at jblanchard@rcn.com. Your wife and I share comm...

Terri: We have corresponded in the past and I believe you are one of my very few connections to the Callaghans who came out of Lisdrumneil. My grandfather Cormack was a brother of your John Callaghan who married Winnie Regan. Other siblings to Cormack and John were Martin, Patrick and Mary. Parents ...

Hello to you as well, Ed! I haven't seen many postings on the board from you of late and figured you were taking a break. Since last we corresponded, I have added more Finn's to my database due to additional intermarriages with Sharkeys and Callaghans. I'll send some information along. It's hard to k...

Peggy: Thank you for the information contained in your March 7 post. I've long been a member of this board and just signed on to put out a request for the very type of information you provided as I'm going back to Ireland (staying in Ballaghadereen) in May to do some additional research and walking/...
